I've had my suprapubic for over 12 years. No side effects or problems. Keep the
area around the opening clean to prevent any infection. I irrogate once daily
and change up the catheter every two weeks. Everybody's a little different in
regards to changing the catheter. Good luck!Date: Thu, 26 Jul 2012 15:00:57

I guess everyone is a bit different, so some may do things their own way. I
have had a suprapubic about 12 years now, I just use the large night bags all
the time-- at night just hang it on side of bed, during day just hang it facing
in towards my powerchair with my black leather carry pouch hanging over it to
help hold it in place. We empty it every morning and every night at bedtime. We
change the catheter once a month. The catheter or bag can be changed earlier if
you think it is needed but We rarely do anymore. Just always drink enough water
or fluids each day to keep everything flushed and working well. Dan H. ***

Anybody had good or bad experiences with a suprapubic? I'm wondering about
the initial installation operation as well as daily and monthly maintenance.
Do you use a leg bag or just plug it and empty it every 4 to 6 hours? What
are the "side effects" the doctors don't tell you about? Brutal honesty
appreciated. Best, Ben
