Whew, this is a difficult call via the internet.  There are a number  of 
head supports in the marketplace and suggesting one that might work, could  
cause further injury if applied incorrectly.  Is the primary doctor aware  of 
this?  Is your friend close to a major rehab hospital, for an  evaluation? 
This would be a start.
