It's a long story, but I no longer had a suprapubic. When I did have one, however, I had problems whenever my catheter was 16 French and had much less problems when it was dilated to 20 or 22 French.
You also might want to consider how much fluid you are putting in the balloon. I had some problems with leakage occasionally, but most of the time this was when I had less than six or 7 mL in the balloon. Good luck.
