Good Luck with your new batteries, keep them both well charged, each
night. Being independent also means that you have to be wiser then your
environment because Nature can be unforgiving and cruel. But you have
experienced
that already. Are you doing Methodist in Indy or Memorial in South Bend?

Best Wishes

I know it has been quite some time since I have posted anything and sense
on bed restriction due to a broken leg. Has anybody else had any experience
with 21st-century products? Well last year I received my new chair, but the
breath control was a lot more sensitive than Invacare! After months of
trying to reprogram and to adjust it with no difference. My local people
finally shipped it off to the manufacturer on their dime and found some issues
that they resolve. Knowing that I'm a road warrior no matter the season in
northern Indiana. They threw on some lithium ion batteries that's supposed
to have a range of 30 miles? Yes that's right and as far as I know the only
chair in my area powered by these batteries over $2000 worth. So upon
receiving this chair back it was much better but far from perfect. Like with
anything whether it's a chair or some other form of technology whole load of
luck and practice. After finishing my routine at the local elementary school
as a volunteer and paid homework tutor after school for one hour. Just
needed to pick up a few things at my local dollar store and is not unusual to
be out most of the day without anybody with me. Upon turning onto a main
isle I caught my foot on the display shelf and never knew that my foot was in
harms way. About halfway through my heard the two bones break about 3
inches above the ankle. At first I just thought I must've caught something on
my armrest but after asking the cashier the condition of my foot confirmed
my suspicions. I have broken my other leg a couple different times but
nothing quite like this. Being my independent self I just thought travel
across
town to get it x-rayed and a sample boot type of support device. Boy was I
wrong and somebody that knew what was going on call 911 for me and took a
trip in a ambulance. Placing a temporary cast almost all the way to my knee
and thinking the orthopedic doctor would put a regular cast after examining
me the following day. He is wise thinking the temporary would just do fine
and not to worry?? Our personalities and his bedside manner was absolutely
horrible or horrifying. I went about after that appointment to get a
second opinion and have great difficulties finding a specialist willing to do
that. At first they told me my insurance Medicare and Medicaid would not
cover that opinion, well at least here in Indiana they do. On a follow-up
appointment the bones were all lined up and told me to remain on bed rest.
Then
three weeks into this waiting game the bones shifted and he was not happy
with my attitude with him and vice versa. He gladly sent me to another
doctor to deal with this misalignment of bones. I will be having surgery was a
nail and screws this coming Thursday and hoping a couple weeks from now to
at least get up in my chair? Sorry this post is so long and will be
celebrating my 20th anniversary coming up in November 14. Take care and you
dear
friend.
