Dear Dana,
We need your help again. Day 9 of the shutdown and there is no end in
sight. There are no negotiations underway between the House and Senate on
legislation to re-open the federal government. This stalemate must end TODAY.
The shutdown is really bad, but if Congress doesn’t reach a deal before
the debt ceiling deadline on October 17, the United States will default on
its bills for the first time in our nation’s history. The consequences will
be DIRE. Veterans won’t get their disability benefits, low income children
won’t get supplemental food services, and the list will go on.
So what can WE do?
* TAKE ACTION: _Tell Congress to pass a clean spending bill to
re-open the federal government and a bill to increase the debt limit before
October 17th_
