It depends how complete your son's injury is, but I can tell you that as a
C4/5 myself I just recently began grilling my own food on an indoor grill.
 It's kinda a guy thing to do and it just happens to be very accessible.  I
don't know why I waited 25 years post to try.  Wish I'd thought of trying
sooner.
