Eat lots of protein ... eggs, spinach, steak (yes steak, it works!) with a super healthy diet. Do not "diet" while you try to heal. My 1st and worst sore happened when I was pregnant and Scott was sucking up all the nutrition I needed!
Have the wound care center make sure it hasn't tunneled. My worst sore did that but the doc didn't catch it. The day the sutures were to be removed I was febrile and the entire area was red and inflamed. They had to do a 2nd, more extensive flap ... the scar looks like a large question mark that starts on my right butt cheek, goes up, curves and goes almost to my knee. Always question anything that sounds "off". For example, my last sore was in 2005. I had to go in a nursing home to heal it (long story). The wound care team came by twice a week. On a Tuesday, they told me the sore was 3/4 cm deep - on the next Thursday, they told me it was doing remarkably well ... only 1/8 cm deep. I said, WHOA, not possible. They disagreed. My Ex happened to come in a few days later as they were changing the dressing. He says "wait a minute" and goes to get a glove. He found a small fiber in the wound and pulled on it ... it ended up being a 2.5+foot piece of packing gauze that the sore was healing over. WTH?! So, always be aware and advocate for yourself!
