Nicki, I have not had that procedure, but I have had plenty of surgeries through the years. The last time I had general anesthesia was in 1977. I ended up with pneumonia and almost died. Since then, I have opted for a spinal or epidural. Sedation can be added if you are nervous or apprehensive. I have had 2 children, a revision to my Koch Pouch (10 hour surgery), 3 flaps, and a complete hysterectomy along with many minor procedures without general anesthesia.
Sometimes the doctors will tell you a general is necessary ... ask to talk to the anesthesiologist! All of the anesthesiologists I've dealt with were more than happy to avoid using general anesthesia on a quad. As you can tell, I am 100% in favor of the spinal option. I hope this helps. Good luck with your procedure. My prayers will be with you.
