2014 was a  bad year.  I started with an accident that  caused  a skull
fracture,  broken fingers,, broken  legs, knees, and a hip. In May I went in
with  breathing and skin  problems related  to the arthritis from the accident.
 In August  it  was  septiceamia.
I definitely  got a  flu shot  and pneumovax update. Another  year  like  last
could kill me .
Best  wishes for a great year to all!

</div>So sorry to hear of your loss. I get the vaccine every 5 years and have
since I became a quad 16 years ago. I am just getting over an upper respiratory
infection and can't imagine having the flu or pneumonia.

Subject: [QUAD-L] Pneumovax

Dear friends,

This weekend I lost another friend of mine who was a quad. He was way too young
to die and was actually in relatively good health the last time I saw him. He
was taken down, rather quickly, by pneumonia.

So, I'm pleading with all of you to ask your doctor if you are a good candidate
to receive the pneumonia vaccine. I plan to get the vaccine as soon as possible
after seeing my friend's illness and what he went through.

There's good information about the two types of pneumovax (PCV13 and PPSV23) on
many Websites, including this one: http://www.vaccines.gov/diseases/pneumonia/

I encourage everyone to do a little research and consider getting this
vaccination. It could be a lifesaver.

Have a happy and healthy new year!

Don.
