I hope you guys can help me out. I have had a urostomy for more than three
years now and have no problems with that wafer leaking or urine getting
underneath the wafer. I am, however, having nothing but difficulties with
the colostomy wafer. First thing to note is my urostomy wafer as a small
room on the inside with quite a bit left over to it here to the skin. The
colostomy one, on the other hand, has a lot bigger ring in the middle of
it. I believe it's 57 mm or 2 1/4 inch.

Have a small indentation at one corner of my stoma and therefore they say I
need stoma paste. We've never had to use this on my urostomy, so were not
sure exactly how much to apply. The last two days we have had the colostomy
wafer leak and it appears like the fecal matter is immediately seeping
under the wafer and compromising the integrity of my skin. Not to mention
it stinks to high heaven.

Any advice on how you guys do it or suggestions would be welcome. As far as
my urostomy, we basically use two or three skin preps, but they told us we
really didn't need to use them for the colostomy. Last night we decided to
go ahead and use skin prep on the colostomy as well as a little bit of
stoma paste where the intention is on my stoma.

I want to thank you in advance for the help. Normally I'm able to call on a
nurse friend of mine who lives down the road to help me out, but she's out
of town on vacation right now.
