it does that on my invacare after a few years and the tech at my repair shop
said it was a common problem and ordered me a new one...he said if it gets
loose just let him know and we will put on another new one...the new ones fit

The stem the rubber knob goes on is too mooth, nothing will glue to it.
You need rough sandpaper or file to scratch it up. Then it can be glued-. I
used Gorilla glue or something.
