I was injured in October 1990 and in June 1991 we went to Turlock California for a horse show, my 16 year old daughter and my eight year old grandson were both showing separate horses. About 2 hours into the show I had a bowel accident. We were at a fairgrounds so no special facilities. So I just figured I would have to tough it out until the lunch break. So I carefully stayed away from groups of people, finding a nice warm spot to watch the show from. I suddenly realized I had attracted a nice swarm of flies which followed me everywhere.
Hmmmmm, so found another spot a little further away really nicely protected from the stiff breeze and waited for lunch hour. During lunch hour we got me cleaned up, clean shorts on, and lost the flies. The rest of the day were quite well and I was able to visit and enjoy all my friends. We traveled back to Reno, and I woke up very sick the next morning. Fever, nausea, chills you name it I had it. It was so bad the next day I went to my Dr., Who found a large spider bite on the underside of my leg at my shorts level. They finally determined that I had been bitten by a brown recluse spider after the necrosis started tunneling around my leg. I was lucky that we caught it quite early and only minor problems that damage in later years. Everyone still laughs about moms swarm of flies. And flies seem to love dive bombing my face. And that’s another story.
