I am having trouble finding agencies to take me on as a quad with my only insurance and the only insurance I am eligible for (original Medicare). As long as I have a Foley catheter I am eligible for Medicare certified home health agency nurses for the catheter or any wounds that may need to be taken care of. Ever since Medicare went downhill starting in 1999... it has all been to my detriment. I now receive 99% less than what I did back then. I hate our government and things are going to get worse.
I have spoken to a very experienced skilled nurse that is the director of an agency here [that can't take me on it this time] and she can see what is going on behind the scenes as far as nurses leaving their current positions for other positions or whatnot and she is one of them. We have spoken so many times and she said "Lori... it is only going to get worse." Which I can experience with my own experience. :-( ~Lori PS - Not long ago I sent out a message to the members on the quad list to please add their basic information after their name (name, age, level of injury, location, etc.) but no one wants to do that anymore and I can understand why since the archives are public but it would be nice for those of us regular members and who have been members for over 20 years like myself to at least remember member's age, complete or incomplete injury, number of years post injury and location even if it is just state or, for example "Northern Virginia." I can't remember where you are located Eric or your level of injury or your circumstances. Sometimes things can be different state-by-state as well. But I can't force people to do anything.
