I use a chin controller to control my wheelchair. They essentially take the
hand controller and we mounted on a bib that hangs around my neck. I have
used one for 26 years. It was either a sip and puff or chin controller as I
have absolutely no use of my arms or hands.

Joan, why on earth would it need to weigh 1 1/2 pounds? I considered using
one can turnn on a telepphone, that did not choose it because I figured it
would constantly be falling out of my reach. I also assumed it would be very
lightweight and made out of aluminum or fiberglass. Send pictures if you
can, because I am totally mystified. Best wishes to you, as always

Larry

I hear what you’re saying about the dentist, just went through a similar
thing. I’m 77 going on 78 and sort of feel the same way about dentists.
I’m having done what needs to be done when it is necessary.

Physical therapy helped me a lot with neck and shoulder pain last year, and
I’m going back for another run in a couple of months. He helped to correct
my posture. I use a chin controller so I always have 1½ pounds hanging off
my neck which does not help. But it gives me the most freedom so it is
worth the sacrifice.

By the way, my physical therapist was not a special guy with spinal cord
injury, but just an extremely practical and intuitive therapist. We don’t
have anyone in Reno that specializes unless you’re with the VA.

Have a great day. Joan

The only thing that is the neck and shoulder pain has been craniosacral
therapy

Subject: [QUAD-L] Tissues and issues

I have a couple of serious issues that cry for quad wisdom. First, I went to
the dentist yesterday to have a crown replaced. Instead, he tells me that I
have three teeth (including the crown tooth) that need to be pulled. That
will be a total of nine teeth, none of them visible, that I have had
removed. Chewing anything crunchy, like baby carrots, is already a task. He
wants to put in implants, something that will cost a small fortune. Now, I
am almost 65, 45 years post. Common sense says I am nearing the end of my
rope. I am leaning toward doing nothing and removing each tooth as it
becomes a problem. The implants would also require repeated trips to
Louisville, a 200 mile round trip.
Secondly, my neck and shoulders have become unbearably painful. Have any of
you tried glucosamine chondroiten or anything similiar like CQ3?
I surely would appreciate some input on these things. I feel like I am
sinking in quicksand with no rope. Larry WILLIS
