Bobbie,

I dread it! I guess I should start calling and getting quotes.

Which Quantum chair do you have?

When I got a new chair my van conversion company charged me $800 to put a
ezlock bracket on the bottom of my new Quantum

Danny,

Do you drive and use the EZ-Lock to lock into your van? If so did you have to
move driving equipment and EZ-Lock to compensate changing from an Invacare to
the Quantum?

My Invacare base is 33” and the Quantum is 36” so this is a concern especially
because it will be out of pocket to add new EZ-Lock to chair and if I have to
make changes in my van the expense will be greater.

Nicki...they are solid and I go everywhere and they show zero signs of any
wear at all...I'm am very impressed by that, they are so much better than the
invacare tires ever were. The ride is a bit better or smoother also, although
my last Invacare is 7 years old so they may have made improvements also. Dan**

Thanks Danny

I am pretty positive I want to stick with rear wheel drive. Are the tires on
your Quantum solid or air filled?

I got the Quantum Rival a few months back with the speed upgrade, I think it
goes about 7 mph or so,,,,which is pretty quick for outdoors, It took a bit of
getting used to it because like you I had been in Invacare Arrows for the past
14 years, all my chairs have been REAR wheel drive and that works great for me
and fit into my 1995 chevy astro mini van. Many folks do not like the rear
wheel indoors because it is not good for tight turns like the mid-wheels can
do. My area is set up for outdoors...it has trails and park area's near me, so
rear wheel is great for me. I suggest trying a few like you said you are going
to do. I do love the Quick Change buttons on this Quantum that can switch from
tilt/leg lift back to drive very fast by a button on either side of the
control. good, luck, Dan H***

I’m getting my 3rd chair in 19 years. I have had the Invacare Action Arrow
Storm for all 19 years. Invacare got in trouble with the FDA and are under a
consent decree with them. My DME is really trying to steer me away from getting
an Invacare chair. It would be a Torque 3. I am suppose to be testing it as
well as a Permobil C350 and a Quantum Rival. The provider brought out the
Quantum on Friday and it has a plate footrest (I have always had 2 footrest
which allows me to straddle table posts at restaurants) I don’t even think my
feet would stay on a center mounted foot plate. They were suppose to bring the
Invacare first and the employee agreed he didn’t think my feet would stay on
the plate. He even told me that the motors in the Rival go out but I didn’t
hear that from him. The DME supplier is trying to get footrests for the demo
chairs but said they can only get 1 side for the Invacare.

Would love input on any of these chairs.
