I'm 62 and 44 years post C-5,6 living in New Jersey with my sweet Pete who's been taking care of me 24/7/365 for over 30 years. We started talking about looking into a nursing home 🏡 for me in case something should happen to Pete. I've been terrified for 44 years because of stories I've heard and me visiting other quad friends in nursing homes. This year I've been making tough phone calls and visiting places so I will be informed and take away some fear.
My mom was just put into a nursing home 🏡 April 2017 45 minutes away. It is so very clean, the staff is kind, attentive and compassionate and run and owned by filipino people. My insurance is Medicaid and that means there is a 2-3 year waiting list. So I'm going to fill one out. I can't believe I just typed that last sentence. Other places have no waiting list at all ... red flag ⛳️ to me. This place, Merry Heart, has had quads before so I won't be the first. Anybody have any advice for me?
