When I went to my urologist's office for my January 22nd of this year (as
expected for my every 6 month appointment with him) and he said that
everything looked great and instead of seeing him every 6 months I should
not need to see him for another year. I was going to him every 6 months to
see him and have him do a cystoscopy to make sure there were no more
'growths' or 'polyps' that was found several years ago and was superficial
bladder cancer. I did not feel bad or expect the following:

Less than 2 months later and me not having any problems... on April 16 in
the morning I was laying in a bunch of pee. Just out of the blue and
absolutely no reason for it. And it kept coming and mostly in the evening
after laying down and we never knew what to expect the following morning.
For one example, as I was doing my care this morning, I felt the pressure
of me not urinating through the catheter and, sure enough, it was like a
fountain in the air.

I made an appointment on April 21st to see my urologist and he was as
surprised as I was. I have always taken oxybutynin 5mg extended release 3
times a day. On Wednesday before my appointment at the end of January of
this year I was doing great (physically for the most part) and had no
problems with my bladder, spasms or anything else. I have really enjoyed
this urologist and he is great. Another member of the Quad list has him and
he likes him too.

He gave me several boxes of Toviaz to try (which I did for a good week) but
it did not help.

I was the symptomatic of a UTI but they wanted me to take a couple of
antibiotics for what was in my urine and had been off and on for years.
This week they said they were going to: antibiotic but never did. Then
wrote out a script for Myrbetrig (another script for bladder spasms) and
the co-pay for that was over $300!!!

I asked my insurance what was the most inexpensive bladder spasm
medications and they said it would be Tolterodine 4 mg extended release
once a day. My co-pay was around $31 for 30 days. I started it yesterday at
dinner time.

Last evening there was some leaking but not like this morning which was
having it spurt up in the air like a fountain of urine.

I have never experienced this before. I need 2 chux on my bed, a large
heavy duty paper and one ABD pad that I was going to stop ordering because
I had always been having large amounts of vaginal discharge but that
discontinued quite a while ago. Now I need them.

Have any of you with SP catheters experienced this? I am actually stunned
with this coming on so quickly and continuing.

Thanks!
