You only need to remove two parts of the case - the back panel so you can take out the logic board and shove in extra RAM, PDS ethernet card etc (the slide out logic board being a piece of cake to deal with - my LC630 presently sports the board from a 5260 and I'm looking to replace that with the board from a PM6400) and the front panel which gives access to the cd-rom drive and the hard disk - this being IDE as opposed to SCSI. Suggest that you go to the home page of Gamba and download the appropriate manual - this will show you precisely how to go about removing the aforementioned panels. If you intend to stick with the original board, would further suggest that you go for OS 8.1. Should you be contemplating replacing the board with one from a PowerMac 5500,6400 or 6500, you'll need to change to 168 pin memory, but then you can go to OS 8.6 and be able to contemplate the use of PCI cards - always supposing you can find the neccessary risers.
