Which brings me back to one part of my original question...

Since there seems to be confusion about one part of my question,
(maybe I used wrong terminology?) I am using a stylewriter 1500
printer. That particular printer does not connect into the scsi
chain like some of the others (at least one laser writer that I
know of) does.

I am not certain that I used proper terminology in the above
identifying of the correct cable, but I do know there are two
different cables needed to be used when going through the switch
box as has been mentioned by several people.

So...again I ask has anyone here ever done the splice on the normal
cable to complete the set up through the switch box...regardless if
that changes it from straight to crossover, or crossover to strait?
I 'presume' such a splicing would be easily done by reversing two
of the normal printer cable wires.

All I'd need is to know "which" two. If all else fails, I'll have
to get out a meter, and go at it sorta blind till I figure out which
ones are right.

Thanks for all the good feedback so far.
Don
