Actually, 3 signals have to be "cross-connected". And yes, I've done
this splice. :-)
If you look into the open end of a mini-DIN8 male plug (not the "solder" side)
the pin designation is as follows:
6 7 8
3 4 5
1 2
Here is the way a standard Mac printer cable is wired:
One end Other end
1 HSKo --> HSKi 2
2 HSKi <-- HSKo 1
3 TxD- --> RxD- 5
4 Grnd --- Grnd 4
5 RxD- <-- TxD- 3
6 TxD+ --> RxD+ 8
7 GPi --- Gpi 7
8 RxD+ <-- TxD+ 6
As you can see (I hope! ASCII art was not one of my strong points :-)
pins 1, 3 and 6 are crossed to pins 2, 5 and 8 respectively.
