I concur with Scott. OS 8.1 runs very nicely on my Performa 630CD (36 MB RAM), and it's modern enough to not be so dissimilar from Macs running newer operating systems when I have occasion to work with those or network with those. For instance, it runs Open Transport, its menus stay down without having to hold the mouse button, and it includes tabbed windows (I'm still waiting for this in OS X) and spring-loaded folders. Also, if I remember correctly, it is the basis for the Carbon code base (which lives on in the Classic environment in OS X). On the other hand, OS 7 is much more lean in the sheer size department if that's critical for you. Cheers, Brett ====== "Most dogs are earnest, which is why most people like them.
