Once you get the batteries apart, you need to match the following for replacement cells: chemistry (most important) size (also important) Watt-hour ratings aren't as critical, and in fact, if you use highly-rated batteries, you can have a new recelled battery with twice (maybe even more) the life of the old one. Recelling is pretty simple except for the soldering, which must be done VERY carefully to avoid overheating the cells (and thus damaging or exploding them).
