He foolishly expects that by the time someone can use a computer they're able to take a hint and expand it into an answer. That was probably the way he was taught back in the old days. Today we want to be spoon-fed; it's to hard to think. That idea went out when the portable calculator came in and we realized we no longer had to memorize the addition tables and other difficult abstract concepts.
