Nope, speaking from my own experience, it also runs on (at least
some) 68k machines. I ran GX on my Performa 637CD. It is included in
the System Disk CD included with my computer in the Apple Extras
Folder. A Get Info on the System File from that disk reveals it to be
System 7.5. Although, the pickle may be right in saying that it is
included in the System 7.5.3 Unified Release as well.
Note: All of the fonts (Hoefler Text, etc.) installed with GX except
the Adobe Substitute Fonts can also be used without GX. You will not
be able to use the extras portions of the fonts that GX allows you to
access, but they will still work as normal TrueType fonts under
standard QuickDraw. Just be sure to leave them on your hard drive
if/when you remove GX from your system.
