I thought you had three machines?
You will only be able to use cross over cables on three machines if you have
two ethernet cards in one of them. A cross over cable will only connect two
machines together, the perfect solution for really small networks :)
Coax basically gives you the same ease of use for slightly larger networks,
although it is pretty crap for big networks.
