NetBSD and Debian Linux both have 68K ports > I'm thinking of using it as an MP3 server > (networked, it won't be playing it, just being storage space.) This > *should* be able to be seen from both OS 7/8 Macs and PCs (using SAMBA, I > assume,) right? Anyone try this? Samba makes Linux file servers and printers visible to Windows machines. For Macs you need netatalk instead, which I've used (on Linux only, and I haven't actually tried the 68K ports) with good results. If you just want to quickly set up an mp3 server though, it's a lot easier to just use Mac OS. Debian or BSD would make a fun project though. > (this is a great form factor for that, > IMHO- nice, small, low profile, unobtrusive - I was thinking of it when I > saw the "rack mount Mac" on LEM....) > Related to that, but OT.... again OT, Has anybody ever actually seen one of these...interesting, but very expensive <http://www.terrasoftsolutions.com/products/gvs9000/> or these ? <http://www.terrasoftsolutions.com/products/briQ/> -- Quadlist is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
