I've learned a lot in the past weeks reading the list, following links, etc.
I've caused myself a problem which I hope one of you could help me solve.
I once connected an external scsi drive which was somehow screwy, and got a
bus error upon startup, and startup halted. Since disconnecting the drive,
the usual complete screenful of extensions no longer loads, only 4 or so,
and what desktop picture is gone, and many controls do not work, meaning
that when I try to change settings, I get an error. I have no idea which
extension was next on the list, it came after the Apple video/tv icon.
Maybe someone running 8.1 would happen to know which typically comes next,
and whether an error with that one would cause such problems...
I realize how incomplete of a description of the problem this is, but maybe
those few details alone are enough for such experts? I must admit...I can
get an error message repeatedly, but I haven't translated it from the French
fully yet (yes, I was cheap and bought OS8 in french for $15 on EBay!) but
it says something about the control I'm trying to modify settings with not
being able to work because of something extension-related...

Any ideas?
I know the best one - translate that error idiot, or buy an OS in a language
you can understand - but in case it's something simple, I'd love to have
full use of the OS back while I'm shopping for 8 'en anglais!'

Thanks,
-Brian
