What if you put the stock CPU back and turn caches off?  Bet it's slower
then :)

Type 1 is usually out of memory, but I don't get how a faster CPU could
cause out-of-memory errors.  Try the original CPU just to make absolutely
sure that the CPU really *is* the cause.

Might be worth a try.

Another possibility is the NewerTech CPU just doesn't work right.  Got any
other Quads you can test it in?
