Hello all (and greetings from Germany ^_^) I do have a question about a computer equipped with a 040 processor, but this machine is not a Mac - it is a NeXT TurboColor Station. I am uncertain if asking NeXT related questions is allowed here - if not, please disregard it and sorry ^_^
I got the NeXT through ebay and it came with the Y-cable and soundbox, but without monitor. To save space in my Apple computer stuffed home, would like to connect my Apple Multisync 17 Monitor to the 13w3 connector of the NeXT. The Apple monitor can deliver the scan rates that are needed on the NeXT and the proper sync signal, so this is not my question. Usually, third party color monitors are connected to the Color NeXT using 3 (not 5) BNC connectors, a special cable adapter was available from NeXT for this purpose. But the Apple monitor does not have BNC, so my question is it someone knows if it is possible to connect the monitor by using the following cable: 13w3--------D-Sub 15 (plus adapter D-Sub 15/DB15) Speaking theoretically: Can a computer that runs fine with BNC type monitors also connect to non-BNC monitors if the needed adapter is supplied? I have several drawings showing the exact connector schematics, so I could modify/solder a cable on my own, but I am afraid I could ruin the NeXT or the monitor on switch-up. I learned, that on the monochrome NeXT stations, the monitor was powered through the video cable (12V at 2 Ampere!), but what I have is a color station and nobody would force me to connect the specific 12V lines to the Apple monitor ^_^ Any suggestions/hints are most welcome (also off-list) and I thank you in advance ^_^ -Peter -- Quadlist is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
