FWIW, My Q605 (debian with a 2.2.19 kernel) does exactly the same - it 
loses a lot, even sitting around waiting for http requests - up to 10 
minutes in an hour or more. I have it set to check my ISPs ntp server 
every half hour, and it keeps it close enough to the right time for my 
logs to stay somewhat sane :)
