Please let me tell you of a service that I perform as a part of my ministry.

I have a small ministry in central eastern Maine. As a part of this
ministry I collect, upgrade and provide free of any charge Experienced Macs
to anyone who cannot otherwise afford a computer. As this is totally at
personal expense and in my "free time" I find that I can only provide two or
three Experienced Macs per month. I have provided computers to as far away
as California and routinely receive computer for fix up and give away from
as far away as California and Florida. Obviously there is always a waiting
list. I always try to fit the needs of the person to the computer and vice
versa. I have provided everything from Mac SEs to a 9600/G3 upgraded box.

I do have a number of Mac II's and maybe some Quadra's that I could part
with very cheap if anyone is interested. This truly is a bare bones
ministry and even a five dollar donation for an old machine will help me
provide a computer to someone who doesn't have a one.

Incidently, the county that I am located in is the second most impoverished
county in the State of Maine and many children here have no exposure to
computers outside of the school.

And the problem with the cost of the LCII that you mentioned is that people
really have no idea what computers are worth today. They look it up in the
blue book and it says $80 so that is what they ask for it. People send me
LCII's all the time for me to give away. A woman down the street from me
was trying to "force" a neighbor to buy a 5200 from her for $500.

Thanks for the time and air space,
Rev. Art
