Maybe a stupidly obvious suggestion, but you DO have Yahoo's built in spam
filtering turned on, don't you?

You can turn it on by clicking "mail options" then "general preferences" and
putting a check mark next to "Redirect incoming unsolicited mail to the Bulk
Mail folder."
