I don't personally think it's off-topic as we are talking about a Quadra. I don't personally think this is a list just for Quadras running MacOS, but a list for Quadras in general.
If I'm mistaken, my apologies to the List Nannies ;) At the moment, the only real Linux option is Debian. I don't personally know of any other pre-made distros that support 68k. However, Debian is a quite good choice. Even the 68k portion is kept quite up to date with the rest of it and includes the latest of most things (XFree86 4.1, 4.2 is on the way, etc etc). It is somewhat more difficult to set up than, say, Mandrake, but it works well. There's also plenty of Linux support out there, and most of the experience would transfer over to 68k without issues. Some of the install bits might be a bit different, but everything else is the same as any other Linux. If you know anything about Linux at all, it'll be a breeze. I'm running it on a LC475, a Q605, and a Quadra 840AV with no troubles at all. It supports both the internal ethernet of the 840AV as well as the LC PDS cards in the LCs. Clock chipped to 33mhz with a full '040, the LCs are quite capable at it. Make great web servers and the like, especially considering their going price ;) Scott Holder -----Original Message----- From: Quadlist [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] On Behalf Of Sque Sent: Wednesday, October 02, 2002 11:57 AM To: Quadlist Subject: Re: Resuscitating an ST15150N >On the other hand, Linux is a lot of fun ;) Set up yet another Mac, a >Quadra 605, with it yesterday ;) > So what flavor would you suggest a 68k newbie install, to far OT for this list yet. Someone on the MaX list seems sure its a swap list not a helpline. :-/ -- Quadlist is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
