Have you thought about using text browsers rather than graphics browsers? MacLynx and Wannabe both run fine on my Q800. They have limitations, but frankly I've found that text browsers are much, much zippier than graphics browsers on old machines. I generally prefer MacLynx (sorry, I don't have the URL for downloading it at hand) to Wannabe because it's much more flexible. If you really miss all the graphics that much, MacLynx will allow you to download them and view them through a JPEG viewer or whatever. And an added pleasure is the nostalgia thing (grin). It takes me back to the early days of the Net when pretty much everybody used a text interface and I had all that fun on the GEnie and Delphi online servies using Microphone Lite with a Mac SE. I'm going to indulge myself in a small rant here. I hate graphics browsers! When you stop and think about it, most of the information being sent over the Internet consists of eye candy which serves no purpose other than to make a website more visually attractive. (And lots of times it doesn't even succeed in doing that. How many times have you visited a website that you thought was just plain dull or uglier than a mule's butt?) Basically all I want is the information the site offers, and more than one time I've found myself tearing out my hair, beating on the walls and screaming obscenities (I'm very excitable) while waiting for some website heavily laden with graphics to download to my 'puter. MacLynx forever! Down with eye candy! Death to the purveyors of visual effuvia! Computer users of the world, arise! Brick the brains that choke your bandwidth with graphic irrelevancy! -- Quadlist is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
