Furthermore, settings such as disk cache and disk driver version (did you reformat between installs?) can dramatically affect benchmarking results. Did you time startup times? It's *at least* a minute longer in 7.5.x, and when you have an OS that's as unstable as 7.5.x, the startup time is important, because the longer it is, the longer you sit there waiting for the machine to finish restarting. You need to establish standard testing conditions and then make sure *every* one of those conditions is met for the benchmarks to mean anything.
