My advice is that if you have an iMac or something for burning or even a 604e PowerMac that you capture raw files on the 840av and then copy them over ethernet to the better machine and compress them on there. The time is probably comparable to what it takes to compress MPEG on an 840av, and you can watch the video for proofing straight after you have compressed it. It is also easier to find the speed and disk space required on newer machines for multiple, copies of one file.
