Victoria, As I stated earlier, I never had any luck with the VBII. I'm using a Flat Panel Mac with 768MB of RAM and it, too rendered my Mac useless and at times completely froze up while trying both 9.2.2 and 10.1. I recommend saving up for a firewire solution, but as far as software is concerned, I can't help there. I use iMovie which works fine for me.
