Anyone with Mac OS 7.1 on up can have those menus stay down without
having to hold the mouse button.  All you have to do is download the
Appearance SDK from Apple's website and install it according to the web
page of http://members.aol.com/halfhill1/appear.html.  It works well.
I've been using this without any problems what so ever on MacOS 7.6.1.
