Hi all,

I've got an ancient B&W scanner made by Caere - "Typist". It was in the
original packing, but unfortunately without the software and manual. All
what I have is a scanner itself, SCSI controller and power supply unit.

The printings on the cartoon box says: System Requirements - Macintosh
SE or above with minimum of 4 Mb RAM, System 6.0 or higher and
MultiFinder, and Hard Disk.

I'd like to connect it to my Quadra-950 running MacOS 7.6.1, but absence
of software is a serious obstacle for that. Caere doesn't support this
beast anymore, and all what I've found on their web site, is a small
Typist_Quadra_Extension (20 kb. hqx file) to enable running it on the
Quadras with 68040 CPU.

Does anyone knows where can I find the software for that scanner? I
don't know even name of software: Google search gives different results.
It was probably bundled with Caere OmniPage OCR, or something called
'Typist version 2.x'...

I'm especially interested in the Macintosh (MacOS v7.5.5 - 7.6.1) and PC
(DOS - Win3.1x) versions of software for it. For Mac, I'd like to scan
images and, optionally, to do OCR. For PC platform, the TWAIN driver
would be ideal, but any other (proprietary) software is highly
appreciated.

Also, I'd like to know whether Typist's SCSI adapter is terminated or
not? It does have just one connector (not two, as it's common for the
external SCSI devices), so it's impossible to connect a termination
'loop-back' to it. On the cirquit board inside, there's a place for
termination resistor packs, but they're not installed.

And finally, what's "MultiFinder" mentioned in the box typings?

Thanks,
Artur
