Hi, I have a quadra 650 with a japanese OS installed on it. I can't read nor speak japanese. So I would like to 'upgrade' the OS to 7.5.3 in readable english. Probably needing to start installing from scratch. I would higly appreciate some help with this challenge. Most howto's I found are based on a working mac with an internet connection. Which is not my situation.
This is my start situation: - Quadra 650 - The quadra contains a special graphics adapter for a radius 1950 21" monitor - Japanese OS. (don't know which version) - I have experience with installing windows and linux pc's. - I have experience with pc to pc connections using paralel/serial cabels and ethernet networks - I don't have any experience with mac's - My quadra is not connected to internet - My PC is connected to internet - My PC runs on Windows 98 - My PC has serial/paralel/USB/ethernet ports This is the wanted situation - OS 7.5.3 english (I already know where to dowload) - Working drivers (if needed) for the graphics adapter. - Mac to PC connection using either a paralel or serial cable. (ethernet won't work I Quess) - Able to transfer data from Mac formatted cd's via a cable to the quadra. - Preferably establish this using freeware. This is what I figured out what I should do to start: - download the os with my PC - Copy the images to floppy's (Using Disk Copy on my PC ?) - download 7.5 net installer - Copy the image to floppy. - Boot the quadra using the net installer - Feed the os disks - ???? Any hints on what to do next ? Is Disk Copy available for PC's or do I need to use a mac of someone else ? Is (freeware) communication software is availble ?
