Nubus slots up to the 840av are 32bit 10Mhz for 40MB/sec bandwidth, Nubus 2 on the 840av and the PPC nubus machines should be double that. So from those numbers the bus should not be a bottleneck (PCI bus is limited to 132Mb/sec). If your using old 200MB scsi hardware I could see the HD being a bottleneck. I can test a G3 upgraded 8500 to a 604 120 7500 system (both with ATA DMA/66 cards and IDE drives) for speed, then try the 8500 to the 10/100 in my 840AV (has a 68pin 4gb 7200RPM HD running on a SE IV card). This would show if the 10/100 Nubus card can at least keep up with the PCI machines at 10Mbs. A CD image file would work for a timed transfer. Not sure when I can get around to testing, might be today. -- Quadlist is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
