I think in the vast majority of cases, with an open mind and a bit of patience, we can work out mutually acceptable solutions to problems.

In the other cases, it seems it's better to agree to disagree, leave upstream at the intersection of what is acceptable, and let stuff be carried outside.

I'm loathe to go anywhere near examples... ;)
