Before you make up your mind what to do about the headlights I'd suggest  
that you get someone to take you our after dark in a standard 2+2 so that you  
can compare the effectiveness of their lights and those on your own car.
 
I like the standard 2+2 arrangement and I admire the designer for choosing  
to use moveable flaps rather than having the complication of moving the  
headllamp units. That said there are members who find that the 2+2 headlights  
are 
not really up to the job. Age, height, and eyesight all come into the  equation 
so it is more a matter of personal taste than just a design  problem.
 
If you find your present headlamps work OK for you it seems to me much  
cheaper to refurbish what you have rather than rebuild as original.
 
I would certainly commend Eddie Ruskin's work to anyone who either by  
accident or desire needs to replace a nosecone or a bonnet
