I Found with the 2+2 that it wasn’t so much the beam distance that was
the problem (especially with new std lights with good internals)but the
spread which is effectively blinkered by being set into the bonnet.
Oddly enough this does not seem so bad on the coupe? Maybe the coupe has
it’s lights set differently , we know the flaps are different(see my pic
on file) ?

Before you make up your mind what to do about the headlights I'd suggest
that you get someone to take you our after dark in a standard 2+2 so
that you can compare the effectiveness of their lights and those on your
own car.

I like the standard 2+2 arrangement and I admire the designer for
choosing to use moveable flaps rather than having the complication of
moving the headllamp units. That said there are members who find that
the 2+2 headlights are not really up to the job. Age, height, and
eyesight all come into the equation so it is more a matter of personal
taste than just a design problem.

If you find your present headlamps work OK for you it seems to me much
cheaper to refurbish what you have rather than rebuild as original.

I would certainly commend Eddie Ruskin's work to anyone who either by
accident or desire needs to replace a nosecone or a bonnet
