You can fit an instrument set from a sierra , the later or higher spec models had backlit clocks and rev counters, I fitted a set from a xr4x4 2ltr dohc in the mk2 fiesta dash there was a bit in the mag about it Iirc,just make sure the set is from a 4 pot so the rev counter works properly

Sounds like the dash change isn't worth the effort. I'll see if I can find a replacement instrument pack instead; there are a lot of issues with the film circuit wearing away so bulbs are falling off or misconnecting. Gotcha with the bulb routing; I'd misinterpreted the diagram that the common feed was an earth. Only been reading the things forty years; I ought to know how my now.
