The voltage of the dead battery was 8.5V
When the first battery went dead I checked with the ammeter and found the
alarm was taking 28mA.
The last battery drained with the alarm off. I've disconnected the battery
after each drive so it can't drain until I've nailed the problem, but i
can't leave it a long time away from home if I stick to this regime as the
doors lock via the alarm!
I'll check with the ameter as soon as I can. Martin

Hiya
I always prefer the word 'should', but I would not risk it just in
case.
Another thought (ouch!) is to make sure the crimps on the connectors
are ok. Also - what is the Voltage when the battery is 'dead' - bear
in mind an LED will only light when connected the correct way round
(and make sure it has a series resistor, or is designed for 12V
operation)
Best regards

1. I think you mean a meter on amps across the battery.
Any digital meter will certainly handle 12 volts input on the ohms range.
An analogue one might bend the needle round the end stop !!
