I believe there are two styles of bracket, unless they have changed them
recently. The
original ones were two separate brackets, front and rear. There were some
reports of these
failing around where they bolt to the upright. A modification was done that
added a small
support rod to the front bracket.
The second style (~2001) is a one-piece bracket that requires a u-shaped
connector to bolt
the rear bolt to. This has mainly had issues with cracking where the oval tube
is welded to the
mounting plate, although I've also had cracks where the flat bar, that the wing
attaches to, is
welded to the oval tube.
When my second style bracket cracked and sent my arch flying, I got Quantum to
supply a
new bracket with the flat bars loose, so that I could attach them to the oval
tube using a
rubber compound. This has allowed some flex and removes the stress at this
point.
I've since found that the mounting plate on my new bracket is half the
thickness of the
original (unfortunately didn't notice at the time) and this has led to it
flexing and cracking off
the front mounting lug on the upright. I keep on meaning to get round to having
the lug
welded back on, but it is holding fine currently with a bolted adaptor that I
made up.

All these issues have been with my nearside arch, although the offside arch
brackets have
got some traces of rust on them which may be the start of cracks. Need to clean
off the paint
and crack test them at some point.

James.
