Last June FJ issued another cover note to me after DVLA dragged their
heals - I guess it may depend who the insurer (as opposed the the agent FJ)
happens to be.
DVLA asked for a second cover note (although there was still 7 days
remaining on the old one!) My local office (Norwich) would not issue a reg
mark until after the MAC was produced - In fact they wouldn't even set the
process in motion (ie take the aplication) without the MAC. The bureaucratic
wheel certainly move slowly (like most tings?) in Norfolk.

I arranged insurance with FJ, when I applied for the IVA.
FJ happily set it up on the VIN plate, but said they would need the
REG - ideally within 28 days, at the time they said call if time
expired. No problem I thought.. ( I think I read someone else
'extending this deadline') how long can it take !!! (VOSA have been
paid, the forms were OK 1 week later, I am just waiting for my local
test date)
I have now had a registered letter telling me my insurance will be
cancelled on the 3rd July if no Reg is provided. NO extension in time
is possible !!!
The suggested solution from FJ is to get a 'layed up policy' for
approx £40 and pay £20 to cancel the current insurance, they could
then restart the policy when VOSA / DVLA are sorted (no refund) so it
may be £60 for a few days....
Does QOC have any leverage ?, whilst FJ understood my dilemma they
could not help.
I would rather not transport the car on 'layed up insurance'
Will DVLA provide a Reg prior to a MAC ?
Should I get insurance elsewhere !!!
