After much scratching of head, the pedal box and brake servo are now
fitted. Took a little while, but the pedal box looks as if it belongs
there and doesn't foul anything; the master cylinder fits nicely in
the engine compartment side (there's going to be a bit of sealant
required to keep the rain out) and the brake fluid reservoir even has
somewhere convenient to fit.

The throttle pedal needed a bit of engineering to offset one of its
mounts, but that's now properly organised. It might need the cable end
bending slightly; it's running through a narrow gap between the heater
and the steering column. Not an issue, though.

The clutch master cylinder is all that's left to do; because that's
going to be in under and behind the steering rack, I want to do that
when I can get to both sides. Might need the working angle of the push-
arm changing a bit.

Finally got the proper CV joints - but they failed to deliver the damn
wheel bearings... so the poor thing is standing there on axle stands.

More in a couple of weeks...

Got another couple of days working on the 20vt conversion...

I think I've finally solved the issues of the drive shafts; the 22
spline input/23 spline output on the CV joint appears to be 1.0-1.6
Mk2 Fiesta - which is what I thought in the first place - but the
supply place delivered XR2i parts which are *not* compatible. This
also ties in with the shocks; I found a tiny marker on the shocks
which googled back to the same 1.0-1.6 Mk2 Fiesta.

So the proper parts should be with me in the morning - specifically,
CV joints and bearings - and then things should actually fit in the
wheels and steering department.

Got the Ford bolts and 60 degree washers from Rallydesign -
unfortunately someone put their hand into the wrong bin and they sent
flat nuts instead! Rang them yesterday afternoon, many apologies, said
they may not have them in for a couple of days but they arrived this
morning complete with stamped return envelope; kudos to Rallydesign
for that one. The Focus wheels seem somewhat better located this way.

Spent the rest of today working out the best place for the Fiat pedal
box. This contains the vacuum reservoir and servo on the driver's side
of the bulkhead; it needs a large cutout for the master cylinder, but
it only protrudes a couple of inches through the bulkhead. The clutch
master cylinder (it's hydraulic on the Fiat) is also on the inside of
the car, but it's on a sufficiently flexible link that there's a small
amount of movement around there.

Let's see how tomorrow goes. It's starting to get the stage of taking
the engine out again to run in the loom and paint the subframe...
