Hi Bill,
Have to take my hat off to you for your achievement against the odds - very impressive. As to the safe limit, I'm reminded of an old joke where the guy inflating his bicycle tyres asks his friend for the pressure limit. His friend states, (in response to the loud bang which just occurred) - exactly what you just did minus 1! The CVH manual I have says intermitently 6700, and long duration 6300 - so the zetec may be similar? Depends on a lot of factors such as piston mass etc, as I'm sure you're aware, and I belive the zetec block is stronger.
Sorry I can't be more help.
Martin

Subject: [Quantum Owners] 1.6 Zetec Redline

I'm a member in Canada, just north of Toronto.
Two years ago I imported a Plus Two (Q2-064) in only fair condition,
put it up on blocks, and completely disassembled and rebuilt it
including changing to LHD and a swap to a 'new old stock' 1.6 Zetec ,
also from the UK. Thanks to Andy Heaton for helping me with hard-to-
find parts, and Jim Hearne for advice.
I had it 'certified', and on the road earlier this summer.
I'm running it with Megasquirt II v 3.56, Innovate LC1 wideband
processor, Ford EDIS, MS Extra, and Tunerstudio and have it running
fairly well using VE Analyser, but can't get a 'professional' tune. So
I have an appointment on Saturday with a Tuner and Dyno. He wants to
know the Redline for the engine - we didn't get the 1.6 here. Despite
a few hours Googling I have only come up with conflicting numbers
between 6300 and 7000. Does anyone know the safe maximum limit?
Thanks, Bill Woodland
